Did Christianity Invent Religion?

Was “religion” a product of Christianity? It’s an odd question, but scholars of religion argue that it is. So that raises questions: Why do they say that? Does this definition of religion make sense in non-Christian contexts, such as Islam? Is religion as we understand it even a good idea? This article explores these questions. The answers may not be as simple as you think?
