Tour Itinerary

JULY 10 – DUBLIN, IRELAND

Welcome to Ireland. After clearing customs, you will be met by your professional Irish driver/guide in the arrival’s hall and shortly afterwards make your way to a local pub for your first full Irish breakfast of the trip. Afterwards, make your way to your Dublin hotel. PLEASE NOTE: Check-in at Dublin hotels is normally 2:00pm. The hotel will try to accommodate us earlier. Later this morning, make your way to Trinity College to view the exquisitely illustrated Book of Kells. Then, a short walk up Kildare Street takes you to the National Museum. In general, the museum covers the history of Ireland from the Stone Age to the Late Middle Ages. Afterwards, visit the Guinness Storehouse; . Return to your hotel where the remainder of your day and evening are at leisure. (B)

JULY 11 EXCURSION TO THE BOYNE VALLEY

After breakfast, depart and make your way to visit the Boyne Valley Visitor Centre to learn about the 5,000-year-old burial tombs of Newgrange and Knowth. Tour one of them to see how primitive people managed to align huge boulders precisely with the movements of the sun. Return to Dublin and this evening make your way to Taylors Three Rock Pub for an evening of traditional music and great food. (B/D)

JULY 12 DUBLIN / VIKINGS / ARMAGH

After breakfast, a visit to Dublinia takes you right back to Viking times in Dublin. Learn of their long and challenging voyages, their weaponry and the skills involved in being a Viking warrior. Visit a settlement, learn the ancient runic alphabet and hear their poetry and sagas. Discover facts, enjoy the mythology of the old Gods and learn of the mysteries surrounding the Viking legacy. Then depart from Dublin and head north towards Armagh. Pause to visit the historic ruins of Monasterboice, an early Christian settlement. Founded in the late 5th century by Saint Buite, it was an important religious center. The settlement was captured by invading Vikings in 968 AD. Onwards to Armagh for overnight. (B)

JULY 13 GIANTS CAUSEWAY & DERRY

After breakfast, depart on a full day excursion to the Giants Causeway and Derry. Journey north towards the magnificent Causeway coast to the Giants Causeway and take in the natural beauty of the northern coast. Walk around admiring the hexagonal rock columns and gaze out at the crashing waves along the dramatic coastline. Then, continue to Derry with a city tour and local guide. . Later, return to Armagh  overnight. (B)

JULY 14 ARMAGH / GALWAY

After breakfast, enjoy some time to visit the two Cathedrals in Armagh, both within walking distance from your hotel. Then depart and make your way across country to Galway. On arrival, enjoy a panoramic tour of this exciting city. Galway has a many great restaurants and pubs! (B)

JULY 15 EXCURSION TO THE ARAN ISLANDS

After breakfast, depart Galway and travel to Rossaveal where you board a comfortable, modern ferry for the 45-minute crossing to Kilronan on Inishmore, the largest of the Aran Islands and where Gaelic is the first language of the islanders. Your fascinating day continues when you board a minibus to enjoy your driver/Local Guide’s commentary on a tour of the island, ending with a visit to cliff top Dun Aengus, one of the most spectacular and dramatic prehistoric stone forts in Europe. Back in Kilronan, board your ferry back to the mainland. Return to Galway for dinner in your hotel. (B)

JULY 16 GALWAY  KILLARNEY

Today, depart Galway and head south towards Killarney. Along the way, head out to the beautiful Dingle Peninsula. This peninsula is a Gaeltacht, a unique area where the Irish language is preserved. We’ll drive to the Gallarus Oratory – a tiny stone church – built between the 6th and 9th century, which preserved Christianity in Ireland; Slea Head; beehive huts; views of the Blasket Islands; harbors; beaches; all spectacular! There is time to explore the town of to Killarney where your evening is free. (B)

JULY 17 KILLARNEY

After breakfast we will  visit the beautiful and scenic Dingle Peninsula with it’s waterfalls and the picturesque town of Dingle. With it’s history. The Celts built great forts all around the area and following the arrival of Christianity in the 5th and 6th centuries many churches and monasteries were established. The local area is steeped in history and has many great historical attractions. The oldest settlement on the peninsula is at Ferriter’s Cove and dates to around 4,300 B.C.

JULY 18 KILLARNEY / BLARNEY / CASHEL / KILKENNY

Enjoy breakfast before departing from Killarney and making your way into County Cork and a visit to Blarney Castle with its magical stone that gives the gift of eloquence for a kiss. You have plenty of free time to explore and shop in Blarney Woollen Mills too! Next, visit the unforgettable Rock of Cashel. The dramatic limestone rock crowned with secular and religious buildings dominates the flat countryside for miles around. Afterwards, continue towards Kilkenny, undoubtedly Ireland’s loveliest inland city. In medieval times this was a prosperous trading center and the narrow streets still follow ancient routes. This evening enjoy dinner in your hotel. Overnight in Kilkenny. Farewell Dinner in Kilkenny (B/D)

JULY 19 KILKENNY / DUBLIN / USA

After breakfast, bid farewell to Ireland as you transfer to Dublin airport, where after check-in you will have plenty of time for your last-minute duty-free shopping. Your flight to the US arrives the same day. Have a safe journey! (B) JULY 9 USA / DUBLIN: Fly transatlantic overnight from the USA to Dublin Ireland. Dinner is served and in-flight entertainment is provided.  (B)
