Join me for a historical tour of Switzerland and the Swiss Reformation July 20 – July 29, 2018.

Switzerland is, of course, a beautiful country, but how much do you know about its history? Have you heard of St. Gall, an Irish monk who in a confrontation with Swiss pagans threw their idols into the lake? He converted the area and had a monastery and canton named after him. Do you know about how Switzerland got its independence from the Austrian Habsburgs? Did you know the great Renaissance humanist Erasmus spent the last years of his life in Basel, a major printing center of the period? How much have you heard about Zwingli and Calvin, and lesser-known reformers such as Farel, Viret, Oecolampadius? Or the story of Bonivard, Byron’s “prisoner of Chillon?”

The tour will be full of stories about colorful people, cities old and new, and the beauty of the Swiss Alps.

The tour includes:

  • Zurich
  • St. Gallen
  • Basel
  • Berne
  • Montreux
  • Geneva
  • Lucerne
  • UNESCO World Heritage Sites
  • The Swiss Alps
  • And, of course, Surprises!

We will spend two nights in Zurich, one in Basel, three in Montreux, and two in Lucerne.

Early booking price is $3248. For more information or to sign up for the tour, contact Peggy Cunningham at Cruise King International, 860-829-1787.
